your "THANKSGIVING"
Disney World Discount Secret Agent Special Report: 11/8/02 I am hired by Guest Discounts to scout out the Orlando Kissimmee Disney World Area for the best travel & entertainment discount coupons and offers. I have secret access to the best inside information and discounts in Mousetown! In my most recent shipment & report to Guest Discounts I've included coupons that you can't get anywhere else except through my sources. Discounts are a two edge sword, businesses reduce their profits by accepting discount coupons but generally see increased visitors and traffic through their establishment. Many businesses do not promote where to get these offers because they want full price customers. Hence, the reason I must remain anonymous. I will continue to operate in these unusual conditions and bring you the best discount coupons and offers, before you go, so you can plan the best discount vacation ever! Trip Report for visit to Orlando/Kissimmee: 1/28/02 Disney Area Discount Alert! We now have a Secret Disney Area Discount Agent. Our agent now provides Guest Discounts with only the latest and most valuable discounts and news on Disney World Discounts. Stay tuned for more on our new Secret Disney Area Discount Agent! Trip Report for visit to Orlando/Kissimmee: 12/28/01 Our new Winter 2002 Disney Area Discount Packs are now available. We've obtained the latest and greatest Disney World Area discounts and are ready to send them to you. This may be our last business trip to WDW, a secret contact has been made, more later on this exciting development! It was 69°F and sunny this trip. I just love this place. Decorated for the holidays, this is the time to visit. For Christmas week it was hardly crowded anywhere and virtually no lines at SeaWorld (see highlights report). I did all my most favorite things to do: Sat down on the patio out front of Downtown Disney's House of Blues and listened to some awesome Southern Blues & Jazz. Be sure to get one of the coil-spring wrought iron rocking chairs! Christmas week and I was the only guy out there for awhile? Too good! So were the two Blackened Voodoo beers I ordered at the House of Blues - B.B. Blues Bar. Dark & Dangerous. This bar is dedicated to the Blues Brothers. I brought those bad boys out back and drank them on the rear voodoo themed patio overlooking the Lake. WOW! Jake and Elwood would be proud! And, as if that wasn't good enough, I went to the Disney town of Celebration and strolled Market Street and the water front to the sights and sounds of Christmas music and decorations. I also hit Old Town and caught a free magic demonstration that was incredible. Capped off the night with Universal's free City Walk and opted to try the $17 Meal, Movie and Admission to venues deal. Includes all tips and taxes. Of all the choices offered I went for the Motown Cafe Orlando's 1/2 Half Chicken BBQ meal (priced @ $11.95 on menu), delicious! Saw a great movie - Lord of the Rings, and rocked out to the great sights and sounds of City Walk! Airline: Air Tran, Newark NJ via Atlanta to Orlando FL Booked through Air Tran's own web site. Booked 30 days in advance. An unbelievable holiday season rate of $43 ea. way ($113 w/ taxes & fees). You must be a sharp internet shopper to pull this off but its do-able! Imagine a family of four can get to Disney World for less than $500! Accommodations: Magic Castle Inn & Suites - Eastgate I written about this best value hotel and nothing has changed. A great continental breakfast and good clean room close to where I need to be. Rental Car/Truck: Budget - Good news - Free Upgrade at counter! Got a big fire engine red Dodge Dakota Sport crewcab (4 door) Pick-up. Bad news was $159 3-day rate. They advertise a $19.95 daily national rate but don't tell you can't get it anywhere during the holidays! This was the best rate available for any size car at every major car rental company at the Orlando airport location 30 days prior to the holiday. The truck was awesome! Theme Park Visit: Visited SeaWorld $48 +tax, minus the $2.50 discount included in every Disney Area Discount Pack. Gets our vote for "Best Reality Theme Park", this water land has lot's of real aquatic animals, shows and sanctuaries. Best action: Kraaken and Atlantis. The new tribute to America Fireworks/Media/Lazer Spectacular at 8 & 9:45 pm was truly emotionally moving. Park closed at 10 pm during holidays! Plan accordingly. Best Meal Deal was at Stella's Italian Restaurant, Spagetti w/Meat Sauce and bread stick $6.29+tax. Not as good as MGM's meal. The Best BBQ Babyback Ribs in Orlando are served at the Smokey Grill. $12.95 for a full slabs w/fries. These are dry ribs not smothered in sauce. The coleslaw was also a knockout. Trip Report for visit to Orlando/Kissimmee: 10/23/01 Sent an associate this trip instead of going myself. Gathered a ton of coupons and offers. This is an ongoing process of maintaining an inventory of current materials and discount coupons and magazines. They try their best to expiry date materials to limit coupons that will be good for an extended period of time. No problem we'll just keep visiting and obtaining only the most current materials to save you big bucks on your next vacation to the disney area. Satisfaction guaranteed! Trip Report for visit to Orlando/Kissimmee: 8/18/01 Another adventure in discount travel to the Orlando/Kissimmee Disney Area. Learned that you often get what you pay for and that Disney area hotels advertise discount prices on their billboard property signs and then refuse to give you that price! Beware the (purported) false advertising by these hotels. Read all about it in the "Kissimmee Hotel Singles Scam!" below. Also note important tips and discount tricks in this trip report. Airline: Air Tran, Newark NJ via Atlanta to Orlando FL Booked through Air Tran's own web site. Off-Peak, end of summer rate booked 40 days in advance. An unbelievable $49 ea. way ($124 w/ taxes & fees). NOTE: 20 days before departure this ticket price increased and was $284 for Sat. and the Tues. return rose to $89. Accommodations: Paradise Inn & Magic Castle Inn & Suites - Eastgate Paradise Inn? Yeah, decided to arrive with no hotel reservations to "test the system". Read about what to look out for when doing this in the story below. The Magic Castle remains my "Best Value Pick" for lodging with their fabulous free continental breakfast. Paradise Inn- $25 Sgl. good basic room, well decorated, room had that classic "Holiday Inn smell". Frig. and Micro. in room. No pool, no continental breakfast. Advertised "All rooms $23 Sgl." charged $25 after negotiating. See story explaination below. Magic Castle Inn & Suites Eastgate - Off Peak Sun. thru Tues. Special Rate: $19.95 Single. This was their best rate when booked that same day, available only with the Kissimmee Discount Coupon (included in our Disney Area Discount Packs) and was cheaper this time than the $26 Sgl. billboard sign rate! Usually off-peak billboard sign rates are cheaper than what you can book in advance. Good service once again. FREE Full Continental Breakfast! LOOK OUT! They removed the tables and chairs in the buffet room and you need to carry trays back to your rooms, I personally witnessed three huge tray spills by young and old alike. Food and drinks piled high to make one trip of it. CRASH! Other than the hot coffee burns, it was hillarious to watch! Clean, good smelling room once again. Room equipped with Refrig., well maintained and serviced. Pool was very warm and clean this trip. Rental Car/Truck: Budget - Ford Ranger Ext.-cab P/U Special Peak Rate was $75 for three days. This was the best rate for any airport location rental car company for any size car in Orlando. How can you miss! Details: Another great truck, good trans for 1- 2. This is the fifth time I rented this special vehicle and enjoyed it's size security and power once again. This "ride" was fire engine red w/Texas plates on it. FREE Attractions: Enjoyed Downtown Disney during the day and hopped over to Universal's City Walk after 6 PM for free admission/parking (a $7 savings). This is a hot spot for live action, free music, great food and caters to older teens and adults. Old Town on Rt. 192 is still the best bet for a free Sat. night out! Theme Park Visit: Visited Disney's Animal Kingdom $48 +tax. Gets our vote for "Best Theme Park When Hot", this jungle land has lot's of shady cool spots and walks. Best action: Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, and the Jungle Safari. Park closed at 5 pm! Plan accordingly. Best Meal Deal was at the Pizza & Pasta Restaurant at the entrance to Minny-Mickey Land. $5.99 for Penne Pasta w/Meat Sauce, lge. Bread Stick and Caesar Salad. Ask for extra dressing, no charge. Food Deals: On the Irlo Bronson Rt. 192: Checkers at mile marker 12 had hamburgers and hotdogs for 49 cents ea.!(Sun. only). Most Burger King's on Rt. 192 had 2 Whopper Value Meals for $5. The best way to save money on food is to make use of your room frig. and buy drinks and food for your room. Microwaves usually available. Kissimmee Hotel Singles Scam! Don't believe everything that you read. If you are familiar with the Rt. 192 Irlo Bronson Parkway, you know that huge electric signs that are out front of almost every property displaying deals and discount pricing. Hotel/Motel signs state the following come-on with almost exactly the same wording except for the price: "All rooms $26 Sgl. ex.p. $6. You would think that all rooms are $26 for Singles, right? Wrong, ...."that rate sells out and is not available" I was told by three different discount motels along Rt. 192 the evening of my arrival. I'm convinced that the best bet is to call them on the phone with a specific advertised discount rate. I've done this often with good results. Walk-in's may not get these rates even though their are vacancies and the huge sign out front says "$26 Sgl." What does that mean for you the average traveller to the Orlando/Kissimmee Disney Area? You are typically a family of 4-6 people with children of various ages. You book rooms under the ex.p. (extra persons) rates. What goes on with these pricing schemes? I'll investigate and let you know! Stay tuned for more updates. Total Savings This Trip: $456 (reflects discount airfare) Trip Report for visit to Orlando/Kissimmee: 5/28/01 Jimminy Crickets! What an adventure, the Memorial Day Weekend in WDW/Kissimmee, and "holy smokes" what a saga. Read about it in the Wildfire! story below! Airline: Midway, Newburgh NY via RDU/Orlando FL Booked through Travelocity from this site! Peak Memorial Day Weekend but 30 day advance purchase only $241 R/T. Flight over-booked and I volunteered to be bumped! Voucher for free R/T travel and they put me on USAirways and I got there only 2 hours later than originally scheduled! Accommodations: Magic Castle Inn & Suites - Eastgate That's right, my third stay at this "best buy" rated hotel. Again, don't confuse this hotel with Magic Castle Inn & Suites, it's sister motel just up the road. This small hotel provides a good basic room, but in a "tough" location in Kissimmee on the Irlo Bronson (I192). Great Continental breakfast buffet! It's the reason I stay here. Peak Memorial Day Weekend Rate: $26.95 Single. This was their best rate when booked and was cheaper this time than the billboard rate! Opposite from off-peak pricing billboard rates. Good service once again. UPSIDE: FREE Full Continental Breakfast! It's Excellent! Clean, good smelling rooms, well maintained and serviced. Pool was warm and clean this trip. Felt great after a long day of promoting Guest Discounts.com. Just 15 min. to all Disney Parks & Universal. DOWNSIDE: Poor pool area set-up/landscape. Parking lot level rooms open to dark, non secure area. Security cameras present in some locations. Rental Car/Truck: Budget - Ford Ranger Ext.-cab P/U Special Peak Rate was $59.99 for two days. This was the best rate for any airport location rental car company for any size car in Orlando. How can you miss! Details: Great truck, good trans for 1- 2. This was the fourth time I rented this special vehicle and enjoyed it's size security and power once again. This "ride" was a black 4 X 4 this time! Pennsylvania plates on it, not sure, but probably a one way rental to Orlando. Just in time for me! FREE Attractions: Enjoyed FREE admission/parking at Downtown Disney during the day. Hopped over to Universal's City Walk after 6 PM for free admission/parking (a $7 savings). Visited Disney's Boardwalk free parking. Went to Old Town, my new favorite free place! For a real trip, I drove to the Town of Celebration and walked around this Disney fantasy town. Now I know where I'm going to retire to! A must see fantasy in town square. Food Deals: On the Irlo Bronson Rt. 192: Hometown Pizza - Slice and 12 oz. can of soda $1.50. Arby's 4 Fish Sand.'s for $5. Burger King 2 Whopper Value Meals for $5. The best way to save money on food is to make use of your room frig. and buy drinks and food for your room. Microwaves usually available. Total Savings This Trip: $403 (includes the free ticket value) Wildfire! Memorial Day Weekend, Sunday 5/27/01 was an amazing day in Disney World and Kissimmee. At approx. 9 am that morning the smoke from nearby bush wildfires combined with fog and obliterated Walt Disney World and all surrounding areas for approx. 2 hours. Literally! I was driving in the worst conditions for visibility in my life. I could not see more than 10 feet on two lane highways in the WDW and Kissimmee area. Waited an hour at a local 7-11 and tried to get back to my hotel. I arrived back and will never forget the faces of the parents and kids in their cars who's worst vacation nightmares seemed to be occuring. Amazingly, within 2 hours the wind had blown away the smoke, at least temporarily. I flew out the next day to forecasts of more "smoke outs" in the WDW area. Holy Smokes! Total Savings This Trip: $123 The Ticket Scam Story Beware of Discount Ticket Vendors that offer to sell you One-Day Park Passes to any Disney World Park. As part of our responsiblities in distributing discount coupons and offers, we often visit and experience these discounted hotel, dining, and attractions and redeem their offers to assess their quality and accuracy. This trip we stayed at the above mentioned hotel, which received high marks on quality. The Discount Ticket Vendor at the hotel lobby offered to sell me a One-Day Park Pass for my visit to Epcot that day. I paid him $50 (cc) after questioning the validity of the offer but resolving that the hotel would probably not expose themselves with having an unscrupulous ticket booth on their property. WRONG! The ticket proved to be unuseable as it was a Cast Member Guest Pass that must have the Cast Member present to be valid. So I bought a $48 & change ticket from Epcot (cheaper that I payed for the bogus ticket!) and stayed the morning. I left at noon to get my money back and as expected Woody was not at the booth. With some help from the hotel staff we contacted Woody who authorized a refund credit. That next morning the police were at the hotel with an irate customer who also bought a ticket from these guys. I talked to the guy who got ripped off and the police. Appears that you can not buy a One-Day Park Pass from anyone but Disney. Exceptions are AAA and the official visitor centers of Orlando or Kissimmee. Other Multi-Day Park Passes can be sold by authorized agents but beware here also. Some of these vendors do sell illegal tickets also. Caveat Emptor. Trip Report for visit to Orlando/Kissimmee: 8/18/00 WOW! What a discount adventure this month.
